LIMA
 

The city of the Kings, located at 3 masl /10 fasl. It  has an arid and semi-warm climate. The average annual maximum temperature is 21,97ºC (71,4ºF) and the minimum is 17ºC (62ºF). The temperature increases in the years when the El Niño phenomenon occurs.
Lima in recent years has become an exciting destination, its traditional section with colonial churches and architecture and interesting museums, Lima  has some of the best museums in south America, or try the infinitive flavours that marks its exceptional gastronomy, justify a well planned visit. Here some interesting  places  to see:

*Larco Museum, was  founded  in 1 926, this  museum  showcases remarkable chronological galleries providing an  excellent overview on 3 000 years of  development of  Peruvian Pre- Columbian history, located  ina unique royal mansion of the 18th century over 7 th century pre-columbian pyramid,  surrounded by beautiful  gardens.

*San FranciscoChurch and Convent, A seventeenth century architectural complex. It is a jewel  restored, It includes the church, the convent, and the square. the catacombs, which was a cemetery during the Colony, can be visited.

*Main Square, in the heart of the historic center, there is a seventeenth century bronze fountain.

*Government Palace, It was the residence of Francisco Pizarro (1535), who built it on the land that used to be occupied by Taulichusco, chief of the RimacValley. Since then, the place has been the center of the political power in Peru. It burnt down and was rebuilt in the 1920’s. It features many patios and rooms dedicated to important people of Peruvian history and carefully decorated with notable art pieces. Every morning at 11:45 A.M., the Patio of Honor is the stage for the changing of the guard, soldiers of the prestigious Husares de Junín Battalion. *Museum of the Inquisition and the Congress, realistic representations of the persecution and torture of those accused of heresy in th XVIII. Interesting sights are the Secret Door, used to conduct individuals to the Grand Inquisitor’s private room, the Torture Chamber, the secret dungeon with its subterranean cells, and the Inquisition Library. Library of Congress. Across the street, occupying the area that used to be the old church and monastery of la Caridad  there is the Congressional Building of the Republic
*Lookout on Cerro San Cristobal, From there, with clear skies, it is possible to see the entire city of Lima. In pre-Hispanic times, it was considered an “Apu” or holy mountain that watched over the ancient populations in the RimacRiver valley. In 1536, one of Francisco Pizarro’s first actions was to take the hill and place a cross on it. On the first Sunday of May, there is a pilgrimage to its summit.

*Huaca Puccllana, pre-inca temple right in the heart of MIRAFLORES  some sections have been recently excaved with very  interesting results. Small site museum. Archaelogists are  usually around and willing to answer  questions.

*Pachacamac Archeological Complex, located to 31 km. From dowtown, It was the most important pre-Inca ceremonial center on the Peruvian coast. The main building material was mud. Around the complex, there are palaces, plazas, and temples (some of them restored), the most important being the Temple of the Sun and the Acllahuasi, both built during the Inca reign (1440 A.D. – 1533 A.D.) and the best preserved parts of the area. You will find a site museum that displays pieces found during the excavation
