SUCRE: located  at  2 750 m. (9 143 ft) Sucre is also known as the "City with Four Names," or the "White City," and is the Constitutional capital of the Republic of Bolivia. It is home to the Supreme Court and is the central axis of judicial power in the country. Situated in a valley surrounded by low mountains, its proud inhabitants consider it the most beautiful city in Bolivia, from here you can enjoy a great climate which includes the typical breeze that passes through the valleys of the Andes, allowing Sucre to delight in an ideal climate year round.  Its population, which does not exceed 100,000, takes great pleasure in this small, but beautiful city where it seems as though time stood still, maintaining much of its glorious past, 36 churches, small palaces, and famous theatres, such as the "Teatro Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho". For these reasons, Sucre was declared a Monument of the Americas and Patrimonio de la Humanidad (Patrimony of Humanity) by UNESCO.

Walking through the center of the city one can discover the famous "House of Liberty," the place where Bolivia's independence was declared in 1825. The noble air that drifts throughout the streets allows the visitor to catch a glimpse of the significance this city has in the life of the Republic of Bolivia. La Universidad Mayor, Real y Pontificia de San Francisco Xavier was founded in 1624 (long before Harvard), granting Sucre its first touch of education and a cosmopolitan feeling, and is one of the most prestigious universities in the country. In the House of Money they minted the silver coins  that financed the economic growth of all of Europe during the 17th Century.

*METROPOLITAN CATHEDRAL,  the construction of this beautiful church began in 1559 and was not totally finished until 250 years later. Its architecture, presents Renaissance, Baroque and also "Mestizo Baroque" features. Specially remarkable are the mayor altar and the dome crowned by the cross of Carabuco that comes from a population close to the lake Titicaca. Next to the mayor altar, you can appreciate the choir of canons, that highlights for its plateresque style; also, of great importance are the six oil paintings of Montufar, that represent the martyrdom of the apostles. The cathedral is located in the Plaza 25 de Mayo.

*THE SUCRE CATHEDRAL, was a cultural center during the colony as well as the Republic. It has been the scenery for many European and American classical music presentations. In the museum of the Cathedral the manuscripts with this half-breed composition have remained.

*THE SAN FELIPE NERY CONVENT, built in the century XVII. It is the ostensible expression of the power of the Catholic Church in the flourishing American Society. From their balconies, in the middle of the colonial style tile hatched domes and its towers and belfries built with Potosi-origin silver ornaments. One can appreciate the imposing view of the city with the one hundred churches built one at every one block during the colony. The spectacle is even emphasised more with the roofs of the houses, all with red, ceramic tiles and its wood balconies sculpted, from where bunches of red flowers hang down over the pebbled narrow alleys.

*THE RECOLETA MONASTERY, founded in 1601 by the Franciscans. An environment of serenity and prayer in the middle of square yards surrounded by corridors roses and geraniums in blossom can be appreciated

*PRINTS OF DINOSAURS,  more than 150 varieties of prints of dinosaurs and near 5,000 prehistoric impressions can be appreciated at only 5 kilometers from Sucre, in the vicinity of the National Factory of Cement (FANCESA).

*MUSEUM OF LA RECOLETA,  it keeps several colonial and republican paintings; besides sculptures, crafts in gold, a numismatic collection and archaeological remains.

*TARABUCO,  it is a refuge from the past at 65 kilometres from the city. The residents of this town conserve their ancestral traditions and continue using their typical clothes. Is famous the handcrafts market of Sundays, in which they market beautiful indigenous textiles. Here the travellers can visit the colonial country property Kantunucchu, with its living rooms, steeples and nostalgic corridors
