BRIEF OVERVIEW: Located north-east of Trujillo at a distance of 863 km. (540 miles) from Lima, Cajamarca is best known as the site of the first meeting between Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro and Atahualpa, the last Inca Emperor, back in the XVI century. Cajamarca has an altitude of 2,750 meters (9,000 ft.) above sea level. This colonial city, once an Inca settlement, boasts fine churches and a countryside full of remains of pre-Inca and Inca monuments, including the Cumbemayo canal, carved in living rock, and the Ventanillas de Otuzco, an ancient cemetery

DAY 01.- ARRIVE TO CAJAMARCA, Our guide will reception at your arrival and transfer to the selected hotel. Afternoon city tour, including the Plaza de Armas, the Ransom Chamber, which Atahualpa filled with gold and silver in a futile attempt to secure his freedom, the Santa Apolonia hill overlooking the city and the Inca Baths. Back to the hotel.
DAY 02.- VENTANILLAS DE OTUZCO, breakfast, in the morning tour to the Ventanillas de Otuzco where hundreds of burial chambers have been carved into volcanic rock. Afternoon tour to the pre-Inca remains of Cumbemayo comprising three different pre-Inca, large-scale, stonework’s - the water canal, the sanctuary and the caves with stone carvings, back to the hotel.
DAY 03.- last breakfast. Transfer out to the airport
